Building Better Kids was started in 2017 by 2 teachers at Malakoff High School when they realized that several students were going without food on the weekends. This prompted them to find resources in the community to get them food. With the help of Acme Brick, they were able to provide Thanksgiving meals for eight families that fall and then began weekly food deliveries the next spring. From then on, a more focused effort to serve these families developed and “Building Better Kids” was born.
WHAT IS BUILDING BETTER KIDS?
Building Better Kids is a non-profit organization located in Malakoff, Texas that provides the basic necessities of life along with the hope of Christ to local students and their families.
BBK helps to provide food, toiletries, school clothes, hygiene items, and other needs as they arise. We are currently serving approximately 25 families and over 75 students in the immediate area. BBK does not want anyone to go hungry, physically or spiritually.
During the school year BBK provides bags of enough food for students to last over the weekend. During the summer and other extended breaks throughout the school year we make deliveries to the families that include perishable food items along with non-perishable food items, and also help parents provide gifts for their children during Christmas.
While volunteers are making home deliveries, they also take the time to pray with families, share the Gospel, and encourage them to get plugged into a local church. Families have been receptive to the Gospel, and several have prayed to receive Christ as part of this mission.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
PRAY: Pray that God will open doors for the team to walk through to serve those in need.
VOLUNTEER: Volunteers are always needed to donate their time and energy to be the hands and feet of Jesus, gather and deliver supplies, and share the Gospel with families.
GIVE: We are always accepting donations to ensure we can provide the needed food and support for our families. The needs are great; therefore, no gift is insignificant and your generosity is greatly appreciated.

100% of your gift goes directly to the families BBK serves. There is no paid staff. This organization is led and served solely by volunteers who feel a calling to help those in need.
